Brechin sits in North East Scotland and this summer, 2026, it’s going to host the biggest music festival on the North East Coast. Set to see up to 12,000 music fans a day descend on Brechin Castle Showground – it’s set to be an incredible weekend of music, street food, family entertainment and much more – and I for one cannot wait. A festival this good that I don’t need to travel far for!
Summer’s End welcomes big names such as Bonnie Tyler, The Feeling, UB40, Rudimental and The Jacksons taking the top spots as headliners alongside Whiskey Roll star – Cammy Barnes who’s career has skyrocketed over the past 6 months. The band who put the rock in bag-rock; the famous Red Hot Chilli Pipers will also be joining the line up with none other than Susan Boyle – what a line up, am I right?
But, if that wasn’t enough to peak your interest there is SO MUCH more to enjoy. Did you know, if you look a little bit further down the festival poster, to the smaller text at the bottom – that’s where some of the hidden gems are going to be found. And I felt they deserved the blog space, as I’m all about spotlighting emerging talent and there is A LOT on this line up!
It’s no secret that the Scottish music scene is booming right now, more people are (in a lot of ways) championing their local artists, supporting local venues and enjoying live music in ways I haven’t actually seen before – in many cities across Scotland.
These artists are your future headliners and as such need your support, so let’s take a deep dive into the Wave@Sea (Big Top) stage and shine a spotlight on some of the emerging bands and artists I think you should check out this August;
TONTO
A band Bonnie Scotland Presents has been keeping a close eye on and I really enjoy hearing new stuff from the guys. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing them smash their King Tuts set last Spring, they really are going from strength to strength.
WEEGIE HINK AE THAT?
If you like Scottish humour, fast paced witty comedy and silly songs then these guys are a must. Had the pleasure of seeing them live several times and always a hoot.
LATE LANDING
An Angus Born heavy alt-rock band celebrate and incredible 20 years together. Having worked with them on a show at the late end of last year I guarantee you are in for a phenomenal show.
There are other acts I think are MUST see’s across the festival weekend…
BEN WALKER
Proudly Angus born, Ben Walker is fast becoming a household name. Grafting the Scottish music scene and picking up fans wherever he goes. From small rooms to big stages, Ben Walker and his band are the most consistent and fun to watch.
BECKY SIKASA
A voice and a set that will leave you in awe. I have seen Becky Sikasa and her band twice now and just wow! Talented, polished and genuine. Fusing soul, jazz, RnB and Pop; Becky’s set will always leave you wanting more.
KATIE NICOLL
Having just won Scottish Young Artist of the year at the Scottish Live Music Awards, Kirrie born Katie Nicoll is set to bring her live pop show to you this festival season. I have watched Katie and her music career blossom over the past 4 years, it’s been beautiful to see and wonderful to see her recognised.
I couldn’t write this blog without a little shout out, you may want to come and see David Delinquent And The IOUS too, may just see a familiar face 😉
But in all serious, kudos to Katrina and the team for bringing this cracker of a line-up to Angus. I can’t wait for August, countdown is officially on. Check out their playlist below and get learning the words to the songs before the Summers End this August!
