Grab your skateboards and hook your wallet to a chain so you don’t lose that tenner.
Chin Up’s Bring Out Your Dead is banger of a pop-punk tune that wouldn’t be out of place on the Warped Tour 2004.
It takes me right back to high school when everyone was wearing baggy jeans, Vans, and a hoody with either Blink182, Sum41, or Jimmy Eat World. The track ticks all the boxes that the perfect pop-punk hit should. An uber catchy chorus with infectious backing vocals, distorted guitars pounding out riffs, the classic punk drums and a nice loud punchy bass. Chin Up are one of these bands where every member is a master of their
instrument.
To be honest, I don’t want to ruin the song for you by telling you what happens. Some things can’t be put into words. What I will say is it’s perfect for a Kerrang! centre page feature or to soundtrack a montage of Johnny Knoxville and Steve O falling of sheds and pushing each other down the stairs in a shopping trolley. Jim, Finch and Stiffler would have listened to this on the trip to Stiffler’s mum’s house if it had been out at the time. Your best friend’s little sister would post these lyrics on MSN so people know she’s edgy.
You’d hear this song on repeat as you try to break through that window above the halfpipe on Tony Hawks Pro
Skater. MySpace might be dead, but pop-punk is fighting the good fight against the man and Chin Up are running through the battlefield naked with Mark, Tom, and Travis. This is an absolute summer hit.
Put it on in your car on the way to work, then tell your boss he’s a lame sellout, drive home and start a pop-punk band.
