Honest, direct and uncompromising, just the way rock is.

The indie rock duo The Thinkers, hailing from Manila, craft a modern, unapologetic, and honest sound, perfectly captured in their new single, Hey! Wait! Officially forming in 2022, the duo’s music history stretches back two decades. With experience, passion, and desire under their belts, lead singer Troy and drummer Anthony are preparing to release their debut album, following the growing success of this new single. The Filipino rockers aim to produce music written and recorded with raw sincerity, captured through their analogue methods and punchy lyrics.

The single Hey! “Wait!” is an embodiment of exactly what the band strives to achieve: raw and pure rock. Following a classic 90s-inspired riff, the ‘motivational’ song is driven by an infectious pulse, slightly impetuous, potentially a little confused, but totally alive. It would be dishonest to overcomplicate this review; the song’s strength lies in its simplicity, mirroring the band’s own understanding of their craft. The direct and uncompromising build in the song allows for a timid and intentional breakdown in the latter half, enabling the listener to appreciate, reflect, and move forward with the motivation delivered throughout.

With no excuses and nothing fancy to hide behind, The Thinkers strike hard with a raw passion for music and rock, a feeling that runs through their rhythm, lyrics, and every part of their process. In a scene that often flows with the current, they move against it, carving their own space in Filipino rock. Their debut album promises to carry that same defiant honesty forward.
