Make room for Scotland’s latest duo The Getaways. Their mission? To blend Scottish melodies into indie pop anthems!

Ever wondered what happens when the sounds of Glasgow and Fife collide? Apparently, it’s quite catchy. The Getaways are a duo bound by their love of home — Bonnie Scotland. Ryan Lawrie and Jamie Adamson creatively merge traditional Scottish melodies with modern indie pop guitar riffs, resulting in a sound that’s both unique and comfortingly familiar — one only a Scot might truly understand.
As much as The Getaways is an exciting new project, both Ryan and Jamie have been grafting hard over the years in their own music careers. Ryan has spent over a decade writing for K-pop giants BTS, while Jamie was front and centre with Moonlight Zoo and can also be seen touring the country with Cammy Barnes. They’re both seasoned musicians, and the hype already building around this project is incredible — it’s only going to grow.
I dare you to stay still through this song! It’s got that unmistakable Scottish toe-tap, grab-a-partner-for-a-dance feel that runs right through it. The vibe is lifted even higher by the whistle and fiddle, which play a prominent role in the instrumental makeup of the track. My Girl tells the classic tale of a man meeting a woman and falling in love, a story as old as time ,yet, The Getaways manage to make it feel brand new.
The duo take influence from Scottish icons such as Big Country and Runrig, while also drawing upon the catchy indie magic of The 1975 and Bleachers. They’ve already built an impressive social media following with their launch and debut single campaign — and it’s clear that momentum is only going one way.
Using the tagline:
The journey starts here. Join The Getaway
They’ve certainly piqued my interest and I’ll be sitting eagerly, anticipating what happens next.
