Cloud House channel anger and grief into ‘Over This’
Emotion has always been front and centre in Cloud House’s songwriting. Known for anthemic choruses and emotionally direct lyricism, the Glasgow band have sold out UK-tours and have just announced their biggest headline show yet. Check it out here.
‘Over This’ arrives as the next chapter in their story.
Their latest single ‘Over This’ marks a sonic pivot. The five-piece lean into pop-punk influences whilst retaining their indie rock roots; a fitting evolution for a group already beloved on home ground.
The tracks robust instrumentation: crunchy guitars, a persistent rhythm section and a vocal delivery which balances clarity with a welcome Glaswegian lilt. The Scottish accent comes through unrefined, grounding the track in its place of origin and lending authenticity.
Produced by Sugar House (Corella, Pale Waves, The K’s), the track quickly sets the tone. There’s urgency in the opening bars, an arena-sized chorus and power in both sound and sentiment.
Lyrically, ‘Over This’ tackles grief, anger and the emotional weight that comes with tragedy. Frontman Conor says: “I had this realisation so many people don’t ever make it out of the place they grew up. We’re a band of five young guys. We all know people our age who have taken their own lives. And that’s impossible to get over, or understand. That’s why this tune sounds a bit angrier and a bit different”.
