Miamorii– Welcome to my hell (Acoustic)

Vibe: Nostalgic, heart-warming

From the band: Welcome To My Hell (Acoustic) is a dream-like power-trip in song form. Mia is at a point in her life where she is angry, wanting revenge, and feeling all powerful

Bonnie says: A voice that most female singers would die for. This acoustic version was reminiscent of my teenage years, listening to Evanescence or even Bullet For My Valentine acoustic tracks. It’s welcoming (despite the title), it draws you in and demands you listen.

Black Wolf ClubRing The Bell

Vibe: Gritty rock

From the band: The song is about a being close to someone and then their relationship with someone else coming between that and trying to make the person realise how they’ve changed and that they’re growing apart. Being a boxing fan, there is a slight reference to it with the idea of it being like a fight going round after round

Bonnie says: The first track as a 3 piece for Black Wolf Club, a strong new single. Craig’s voice has a raw, gritty edge to it within the track. The guitar lick is fun and reminds me a lot of Electric Six which is never a bad thing.

Jutebox Fallout

Vibe: Grab your sombrero and Sangria

From the band: A song about the frustrations of falling in and out of love. This release focuses on how the pressures of having a passionate relationship with someone can pose struggles and how helping each other with the challenges of everyday life can be challenging in itself. It encompasses the idea of how like many things reflections of the past can be comforting and familiar yet are not always replicated in the now and it’s how you deal with that.

Bonnie says: The initial rhythms and vibe in this track scream Spanish but as the track progresses it falls into Madness type pop fun. Fallout is fascinating, never to be pigeonholed into one genre Jutebox return with a track steeped in cool patterns, unexpected twists and horn parts that make you want to dance. Another cracker!

The MissprintAdvice

Vibe: Headbang worthy.

From the band: “When we first came up with ‘Advice’, a wave of emotions swept us away as we realised the potential and impact that this song could make on us. A debut release, with only a few months together as a band, has brought us so close and determined for the future with immense passion

Bonnie says: A debut deserving of being talked about. As young teens still at school, The Missprint are already making waves in the Scottish music scene. Advice leans into the classic indie rock identity of the likes of Arctic Monkeys and Oasis. I can hear a lot of potential in their song writing, song arrangements and instrumentation. I look forward to following their journey as they mature – both musically and in age – to hear them find their own unique sound within the genre.

Kyoshi StationSong Unsung

Vibe: Trance like state

From the band:  Song Unsung is a reflective track about the cost of playing it safe. Built around the refrain “Don’t be the song, left unsung,” it confronts self-imposed limits and the quiet drift into unrealised potential.

Bonnie says: Songs Unsung is perfect for any Pink Floyd fans, it’s psychedelic, enchanting and quirky. The chorus is super catchy and will have you singing along without doubt. I don’t think there are any bands in Scotland making music like this – it’s brilliant!

Fresh finds…

BarejamsCaught In The Middle

Vibe: Hooks for days

Bonnie says: Barejams, in my opinion, can do no wrong. Every single track makes me smile when I hear them come over the speaker. This track has a fun bouncy rhythm that I can already imagine being played out live and it being a total vibe in the audience. The horn lines are slick, the vocals are on point and the song arrangement keeps us guessing what may come next!

Oscar BlueChin Up Kid

Vibe: Comforting

Bonnie says: Oscar has a really beautiful voice and Chin Up Kid was an instant repeat and listen again track. It’s a song that feels like a warm hug on a bad day, one you just melt into.

Polarnova Roger

Vibe: Dark indie

Bonnie says: Spanish rock band Polarnova rock their latest single Roger, drawing upon the heavier side of indie rock this track gives Arctic Monkeys AM era – it’s gritty, it’s raw and it sounds big!

Brains Mcloud Hope

Vibe: Hype tune

Bonnie says: As Gavin Bain (Brains Mcloud) celebrates the release of the California Schemin’ movie his album California Schemin’ showcases music from that made the soundtrack. Gavin is a friend of mine and I always joke with him that he pops up with new music or conversations when I need motivated the most. Hope was no different “It’s not the journey or destination it’s about who you are along the way!”. Hope landed on my playlist when I needed it most. A summer hip-hop banger.

Secret Menu– I Wanna Know

Vibe: Sunny day strolls

Bonnie says: One of my new favourite bands. Secret Menu mix the best of Tiny Moving Parts and Midwest emo. Their experimental with rhythms and by god does it make for a fun listen! I’m so there, if they ever come to UK or Europe!!
