Flair – Nausea
Vibe: Late night drive through the streets of Glasgow
From the band: Their new single ‘Nausea’ sees the band at their most raw and unflinching, capturing the claustrophobia of spiralling thoughts and the uneasy thrill of losing control.
Aneta says: Flair have been causing quite a stir in the Scottish music scene for a couple of years now, and their distinctive style and vocals that hang somewhere between Chris Cornel and Caleb Followil, make them instantly recognisable.
‘Nausea’ is industrial and rough in the best way possible: heavy bass, piercing guitars, and drums that pour over everything like torrential rain. The track is astonishingly powerful and sounds as if it had been forged amongst heavy machinery somewhere in a massive warehouse of Glasgow’s Hillington Park.

Edenbank – Who Knows Where I’d Be
Vibe: Romantic evening together
From the band:
Aneta says: Edenbank are an indie-folk duo from Dundee, and their newest single ‘Who Knows Where I’d Be’ is a heartfelt reflection on personal growth in relation to love, wrapped in the most tender of sounds.
Ashley’s gentle vocals, paired with the beautiful guitar work beneath them, feel like a match made in heaven, and echo the works of Phoebe Bridgers and Indigo Girls.

Junior VP – Joy
Vibe: A trip back in time
From the band: “Joy is a darkly funny and deeply personal track about being on antidepressants for years and the plateauing of emotions that can come with it.
Aneta says: Jumping back to the late ‘90s, Junior VP’s nostalgic ‘Joy’ celebrates the influence of legends like Blur and Weezer. Exciting pace, nonchalant vocals, timeless guitars and just a hint of that ‘garage rock’ grit, turn it into an indie anthem that’s just irresistible.
Whilst sounding relaxed and carefree, the light-heartedness is contrasted by lyrics concerning long-lasting mental health problems. It’s the kind of honesty that makes a song relatable in its vulnerability.

Juniper Three – Symphony
Vibe: Sunny Sunday afternoon
From the band: Symphony is friendship, loss and grief wrapped up in a catchy 70s-inspired pop-rock package. A Laurel Canyon-esque melody and soundscape is juxtaposed with a lyrical exploration of grief, having been written after the loss of a very close friend.
Aneta says: The Scottish vocal trio Juniper Three’s delightful compositions sound as if they’ve taken the most melodic of Fleetwood Mac, the most atmospheric of Mazzy Star, and then stirred in a bit of pop and soul.
The result is a laid-back and comforting concoction, brimming with soft, perfectly harmonious vocals. It’s a lovely listen for anyone looking to relax and forget about the outside world for a moment.

NeverUnder – Till I’m Beat
Vibe: Rage against the modern world
From the artist: A very catchy and energetic song, rich in meaning
and in emotions, characterized by its raw power combined
with top-tier production and subtle vocal harmonies
Aneta says: Images of soulless everyday contrasting confessions of vulnerability and basic human longing for closeness. In their new single, NeverUnder dive into the relentlessness of the fight against the passing of time. Message amplified by constantly rushing drums, the song is filled with passionate chants, desperate shouts and explosive guitars.
‘Till I’m Beat’ is an unbreakable fusion of rock, punk and metal – something for the fans of Metallica, The Offspring and Beastie Boys.

The Empty Page – A Feminine Ending
Vibe: The power of female rebellion
Aneta says: The newest single from the Manchester punk trio, The Empty Page fronted by Kel Page, is a voice of resistance against the oppression of women by unrealistic beauty standards. Through her provocative lyrics like ‘They built an empire upon your self-hate’ or ‘They only care about women they can f**k or impregnate’, Page takes a stance for every girl ‘from the age of 11’, who fell victim to judgement and rejection due to her appearance.
Packed with contrast, the track is passionate yet carefully balanced, featuring both dynamic sections and slow interludes, moments of near-resignation and violent uprising, infuriated shouts and slow, velvety singing.
Amongst the commanding drums, the sinister growl of bass and the howling guitar, a powerful message emerges: the restless fight against the fabricated image of female beauty is nowhere near over.

Abigail Grace – Falling For You
Vibe: Lonely walk on a misty morning
Aneta says: ‘The Australian singer-songwriter’s recent release is a masterclass in ambient folk. With Abigail’s delicate voice always at the centre, the song is based on traditional guitar fingerpicking, and enriched by soft strings and melancholy piano.
Vulnerability woven into the dreamy atmosphere, the song captures the uncertainty of love in an honest and deeply moving way.
Abundant in intimate lo-fi textures, the sound drifts in mid-air, slowly enveloping the listener with its gentleness. It fades away just as softly, leaving them utterly enchanted.

Sunthorn – Cosmic
Vibe: A fist fight on a late night out
Aneta says: Sunthron are a new grunge band from Barcelona, who are coming for it with everything they’ve got. ‘Cosmic’ is the first single from their debut album ‘The Collective Adrift’ released only last Friday, and it’s a teaser of an LP that could become the soundtrack to every night out after all the pubs are shut.
Fusing the strength of Pearl Jam with the darkness of Soundgarden, this is grunge at its strongest. The vocals are emotional and throaty, the drums are fast, the bass is moody, the guitar is melodic.
One thing is clear – wearing a flannel shirt and smoking a hand-rolled cigarette whilst listening to Sunthorn should be mandatory.

Spencer Hoffman – Apricots For Sale
Vibe: Carefree summer evening
Aneta says: Coming from Spencer Hoffman’s second album ‘Cherry Picker’, ‘Apricots For Sale’ is a charming indie-folk tune completely drenched in Californian sunshine.
The song is relaxed and welcoming, but at the same time, wonderfully ambitious and complex in structure. Composed around an echoing acoustic guitar and dynamic clapping, it is rich in instrumentals, featuring woodwinds and an electric guitar solo.
While Hoffman’s smooth voice brings to mind Ben Howard, the upbeat energy of the track suggests an inspiration by the likes of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

The Mandela FX – See The Wave
Vibe: Ambient post-rock dream
Aneta says: Equally ominous and heavenly, ‘See The Wave’ is a vast, cinematic soundscape. Like a soundtrack of the most epic movie that can only be created in the listener’s imagination.
With soaring guitars and drums rumbling like an avalanche, the sound approaches steadily. Gradually, it transforms into an abstract wall of sound, the sheer magnificence of which raises The Mandela FX to the heights of Mogwai and Sigur Rós.
This is music that exists in the unknown. Ethereal and monumental. Simply sensational.
