Nostalgic guitar lines and a warm, driving rhythm set the scene for Point Pleasant’s debut single I Recall, a bittersweet reflection on love, lost time and the versions of ourselves we leave behind.

Released on 15 May 2026, the Glasgow/Newcastle five-piece open with a guitar riff before the lead guitar and drums join, immediately establishing a distinctly 90s indie feel. The melodic guitar work is central throughout, singing alongside the vocals rather than simply accompany them. Repeated guitar passages give the track a sense of familiarity, as though returning to a memory you know by heart.

Lyrically, I Recall feels like the voice of someone who hasn’t quite let go of a great love. The repeated “I recall the time”immediately draws us into the past, while “I come down and I get high” and “say it’s the last time, every time, every time still I lie” hint at a struggle to break old patterns. Even when the lyrics turn towards moving forward (“another day, another chance, another life”) the song keeps pulling us back.

That tension is captured beautifully by the recurring guitar melody, which returns before the chorus and again around the admission that “she’s always on my mind.” The emotional heart comes with the line ,“when all is said and done, please remember me and smile” – tender, bittersweet and accepting that people may move on without erasing what they meant to each other.

As a debut single, I Recall is a confident introduction to Point Pleasant: a nostalgic, guitar-led track that doesn’t simply look backwards, but explores how difficult it can be to move forward when part of you is still there. Whether this reminiscent styling is a glimpse of their wider sound or something created specifically for this story, it certainly leaves you curious to hear where they go next.
